Israel: The Destiny of the Church
Deuteronomy 32:21 is the word of the L-rd to a rebellious nation. "They have provoked Me to jealousy by what is not G-d; they have moved Me to anger by their foolish idols. But I will provoke them to jealousy by those who are not a nation; I will move them to anger by a foolish nation." So the L-rd warned Israel.
Paul warns the Ephesians church with these words of Ephesians 2:12, 13: Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called "uncircumcised" by those who call themselves "the circumcision;" remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without G-d in the world.
But G-d has given the Gentiles a hole in their faith in Messiah. So that 1 Peter 2:9 & 10 speaks of the Church in this way: "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to G-d, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of G-d; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.:"
G-d has taken a foolish people, a people without any hope in the world and has taken them from among all the nations around the world. He has taken these people who were not a people,. And has made them the People of G-d! For what purpose? According to Romans 11:11, "I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous."
See how G-d’s plans and His purposes for Israel are being completed through the Gentiles who were once far off? Isaiah 49:3 & 6 are referred to on the banner of this newsletter. They declare the purpose of the people of Israel. "he says: ‘It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation (Yeshua) to the ends of the earth.’" That was G-d’s plan. For Israel to bring His salvation to the ends of the earth. The Hebrew word for salvation is Yeshua, which is the very name that was given to Joseph with which he was to name the Son of G-d!
G-d instructed Moses to go get the people of Israel out of bondage, return them to the place of His Presence, at Mt. Sinai; there G-d would give His Torah to His people. Not as a way of their redemption; they were redeemed when G-d delivered them out of the hand of Pharaoh. After they were redeemed, His Torah was to show the world how redeemed people lived. This would draw all men to Israel; they would then point them to the G-d of Israel and the entire world might be sanctified and secure in Him. Now, on behalf of 5600 years of my ancestors, I repent. Israel did not do what G-d had ordained. We became a stiff-necked people and lived in rebellion to His word. We not only worshipped the gods of the people around us, we finally worshipped gods that were not even gods! We worshipped the things that we made with our own hands, and the things that reminded us of our own pleasures. Sound familiar? But G-d’s plan is eternal. He accomplished it through not the nation of Israel, but through one Israeli — Yeshua, the Israelite! He was completely Torah observant and through that observance, He drew all men to Himself. Not for the purpose of bringing them to Himself only, but so that the purpose of G-d would be completed by all the world coming into the Presence of the G-d of Israel. G-d watches over His word and always performs it.
Too often today, we reject the Torah of G-d, just as ancient Israel did so. Too often we make for ourselves our own version of G-d; we want Him to affirm our plans and to bless our own activities, although they are far removed from the Torah of G-d. We call the Torah of G-d nothing more than "law." And we reject the law because we are not under the law. But my friends, we are either submitted to the L-rd and to His instruction or we are not. If we are not, then we have no place in G-d’s plan. Yeshua said "if you love me, you will do my commandments." What are these commandments if not the Torah of G-d? He spent a great part of His time in the earth fighting against the regulations imposed by the Pharisees and the ancient rabbis. He spent His entire time here demonstrating the observance of G-d’s Holy Torah. Today, we wrap ourselves in the regulations of church denominations and traditions created by mere men whom we revere as "Church Fathers" yet we reject the instruction of the L-rd our G-d. How long, O Church, will you vary between two masters? If G-d be G-d, then follow Him."
If the destiny of the Church is, indeed, in Israel, then it is imperative that we understand the destiny of this land and its people. Ezekiel 36 is the message of a completely restored Israel, I encourage you to read the entire chapter right away. These few verses will give you the basics for this point: "For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your G-d. Moreover, I will save you from all your uncleanness;" According to Ezekiel 36:24-29, G-d will return the exiles of Israel and then will all Israel be saved. But Zechariah foretells of an even more desperate situation that will befall the city of Jerusalem. "I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves." (Zech 12:2-3)
"I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city." (Zech 14:2) Before the city of Jerusalem is under siege, all the Jewish people will return to Israel. The history of the nation of Israel is one of persecuted Jews coming to their only safe haven. I believe that G-d will do whatever it takes to accomplish His promise of re-gathering the people of Israel into the land of Israel. So, long before the city of Jerusalem is surrounded by all the nations of the world, your Jewish neighbors will suffer much. Will you stand with the land and the people of Israel, or will you be lulled into the plans of governments and the desires of many church leaders who will follow the crowd rather than following the word of the L-rd? How long will you stand between two masters? Will you stand on G-d’s word ? Please stand with us.
